Ruby Tuesday Gets ``BEST Award'' as One of America's Top-10 Companies for Training

Awards Recognize Commitment to Employee Learning at World's Leading Corporations

MARYVILLE, Tenn., Oct 23, 2006 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Ruby Tuesday, Inc., one of the nation's leading casual dining restaurant companies, was ranked seventh in the American Society for Training & Development's 2006 BEST Awards Program. The company was ranked among the top 10 in a list of 39 blue-chip corporations and organizations from India, South Africa, and the United States that received the prestigious award.

Members of the Ruby Tuesday Human Resources Team accepted the ASTD BEST Award during a ceremony and reception held in Washington, D.C. earlier this month. Other companies receiving the honor include Booz Allen Hamilton, NCR Corporation, Wipro Technologies, JetBlue Airways, American Express, and Microsoft.

"This highly prized recognition that puts us in the ranks of some of the best companies in the world is confirmation of the quality and effectiveness of our programs and process," said Sandy Beall, Ruby Tuesday founder, Chairman, and Chief Executive. "Our return on the significant and consistent investments we make in training and development is the outstanding performance of our team, along with their tenure and low turnover rate," he added.

The ASTD BEST Awards recognize organizations that demonstrate enterprise-wide success through employee learning and development. According to Tony Bingham, ASTD's president and CEO, "The winners set the standard of excellence for exceptional learning practices, and demonstrate that a skilled workforce is vital to achieving results." Bingham continues, "The 2006 ASTD BEST Award winners use learning as a strategic tool and have the support of senior leaders who champion a learning culture."

Through an online survey, the 2006 BEST Awards received applications from 78 organizations in seven countries. These organizations submitted quantitative and qualitative information to ASTD about their learning and development practices and programs. Their programs and results were assessed by members of the BEST Awards advisory committee, a group of experts in the learning and performance field.

More information about the 2006 ASTD BEST Award winners may be found in the October 2006 issue of T+D magazine.
