Ruby Tuesday Affected by Hurricane Katrina
MARYVILLE, Tenn., Sep 02, 2005 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Ruby Tuesday (NYSE:RI) restaurants in Biloxi and Gulfport, Mississippi were destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. In addition, restaurants in Moss Point and D'Iberville were damaged and remain closed but are expected to reopen in a few weeks. Restaurants in the Mobile, Alabama area sustained some damage and loss of power but are in the process of reopening.
Ruby Tuesday has established a command post in Mississippi to coordinate its efforts and facilitate communication in the area. Food and water, power generators, fuel, and other essential supplies have been sent to the Gulf Coast by the company, and it is also providing immediate financial assistance to employees who were victims of the disaster. Ruby Tuesday is also coordinating efforts to make certain that every employee who needs it will be provided with a place to live and the opportunity to work in one of the company's restaurants. Ruby Tuesday will continue to provide help until its employees' lives can return to normal. Fellow employees are generously offering room in their homes, and Ruby Tuesday will do whatever it takes to get employees and their families out of temporary shelters and back to work.
In addition, Ruby Tuesday employees are contributing to the Ruby Tuesday Team Disaster Response Fund. Established after the events of September 11, 2001, this on-going relief effort provides financial assistance to Ruby Tuesday employees in time of natural and man-made disasters and crises. The goal for this hurricane relief effort is to raise $400,000, all of which will go directly to help affected Ruby Tuesday employees.
Ruby Tuesday is attempting to locate its employees who worked in restaurants that were destroyed or heavily damaged by the hurricane. Anyone who has information about an employee is asked to e-mail email@example.com or call 1-800-325-0755.
